Which airport is on each part of your ticket?
Your international arrival and your San Pedro cart pickup happen at different stages of the trip. Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, BZE, is on mainland Belize. San Pedro, SPR, is on Ambergris Caye. Rio’s golf cart rental is for San Pedro and the island, rather than the journey between them.
Check the airport named on the onward ticket as well. Belize City Municipal and the international airport are different airports. If a booking says Belize City, confirm the airport with the airline instead of assuming that every local flight leaves the place where you first land.
Are you continuing by local flight or water taxi?
The Belize Tourism Board describes both domestic air travel and water transport for getting around the country. Arrange that onward journey separately from the cart. Compare the actual departure point, baggage conditions and connection requirements for your itinerary, rather than comparing only a flight or ferry’s advertised travel time.
A water taxi plan also needs a mainland journey to the correct departure terminal. Confirm that transfer and your sailing with the transport provider. Rio’s San Pedro delivery does not include a mainland airport transfer or the boat ticket.
How much room should you leave between journeys?
Allow for international arrival processing, collecting bags, onward check-in and any transfer between departure points. A flight’s landing time is not the time you will be ready for the next journey. Ask the carrier about the connection you are booking, including what happens if the first flight is delayed.

Which pickup time should you give Rio?
Use the date and expected time you will reach San Pedro, with room to collect your luggage and meet the team. Enter Belize local time, UTC−6 year-round. Do not enter the international landing time at BZE or your mainland ferry departure as if either were the cart handover.
Choose Tropic Air, Maya Island Air, Belize Express Water Taxi or Caribbean Sprinter Water Taxi to match your island arrival. If you will meet later at your accommodation, choose Hotel and enter its name. Confirm the exact meeting point and time with Rio before traveling.
What details help the team plan the handover?
Keep the arrival information together so Rio can understand the whole plan. Passenger count and bag count are separate: enough seats does not guarantee space for every suitcase. Share bulky items or access needs before arrival rather than expecting a particular vehicle feature.
- The local airline or water taxi operator and travel date.
- Your expected arrival in San Pedro and any useful flight or sailing details.
- The number of people, bags and selected carts.
- Your accommodation name and a phone number Rio can reach.
What if a flight or sailing changes?
Tell the transport operator about the journey it controls, and update Rio about the cart handover. Include your reservation reference, revised island arrival and any change of operator or accommodation. A message to one provider does not update every other part of the trip.
Ask Rio to confirm the revised arrangement. A changed rental period may need a revised quote, and a selected pickup time is not a guarantee of an immediate handover. Keep the confirmation and contact details accessible while traveling.
How should you plan the journey home?
Work backward from the onward flight or water taxi, including its current check-in instructions. Leave time to return the cart, handle luggage and reach the correct departure point. If you are continuing to an international flight at BZE, that onward connection needs its own planning.
Before your stay, choose dates and carts to request the rental. Public rates are base rental only; required charges appear in the full quote. Review and accept that quote to confirm, then pay at the Rio office or pickup.
