Start with your people and your plans
A golf cart makes the short stops part of the trip: breakfast in town, a beach detour, and an easy return to your accommodation. First decide how many people will ride together. Rio offers four-seat and six-seat carts. Everyone in your group needs an actual passenger seat; a larger cart is useful when a family or group wants to travel together.
Think separately about airport luggage. Passenger capacity does not describe luggage space. Share your group size and bag count with Rio before arrival so the team can help coordinate a practical handover.
Plan around your arrival in San Pedro
Belize’s international airport is on the mainland. Your arrival on Ambergris Caye is a separate journey by local flight or water taxi. Use your San Pedro arrival time when choosing cart pickup. All rental times on this website use Belize local time, UTC−6 year-round.
If you are flying into San Pedro Airport, share the airline and arrival details. If you are coming by water taxi, include the operator and expected arrival. Confirm the meeting point directly with Rio; do not assume a cart will be waiting outside every terminal exit.
Compare the whole rental period
Calculate the base rental for your exact dates, then review the full emailed quote including required charges. A started 24-hour period counts as a rental day. For example, collecting at 9 am and returning the following day at 9 am is one day; returning later starts a second day.
The request form compares daily and weekly BASE RENTAL combinations. Required charges apply in addition to the base rental. After you send your request, the full quote is emailed for your approval. Accept it before expiry to confirm, then pay the accepted total at the office or pickup.
At the handover
Bring your valid driver’s licence and reservation reference. Walk around the cart with the team, check the fuel level, and ask how to use the lights, parking brake and controls. Make sure you know the agreed return location and how to contact Rio if you need help.
Take your licence with you when driving. Check road conditions with the local team before going farther from town, especially after rain. Plan daylight travel when possible, leave room for pedestrians, and never carry more passengers than the cart seats.
Leave time for your return journey
Plan the cart return as its own appointment before your ferry or flight. Return with the same amount of fuel as at pickup and allow time for a handover. If you need more time, contact Rio before the return deadline to agree an extension and its price.
